William Fielden, son of Dempsey and Sarah Fielden, was born Nov. 29, 1849, in Anderson County, Tennessee, and departed this life at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 1941,
at his home in Bolivar.


While a child he moved with his parents to Texas County, Missouri. On Feb. 10, 1878,he was united in marriage to Nancy Elizabeth Myers at Ellis Prairie, Mo. To this
union were born two children, Dora Fielden and Mrs. Lucy E. Smith (married Moss F. Smith of Mountain Grove, MO).
During his 'teen age he believed in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Hamilton Creek Missionary Baptist church.
Many years later he was a charter member and deacon of the Success Baptist church. Upon moving to Bolivar he placed his membership in the First Baptist church.
In 1940 he moved his membership to Calvary Baptist church of Bolivar. He was a patient sufferer for many years and suffered much during his last illness.

He leaves in this world to cherish his memory the two daughters of the home and a host of nieces and nephews and their children, also many friends.
His parents, all of his brothers and sisters, and his wife have preceded him to the Heavenly land. He lived to the greatest age of any in his family except his mother.
At the time of his departure he was 91 years, 4 months and 10 days of age.

The funeral services were conducted last Saturday afternoon, April 12, by the Rev. H. S. Rainwater and the Rev. J. A. Hook at the White & Erwin funeral chapel.

The pallbearers were Abe Waggoner, Frank J. Martin, A. Moffitt, Carlos Wilson, Lennie Wilson and Rev. Gordon.

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the service were Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Sheldon, Miss Hilda Todd and Mrs. Lois B. Carter of Springfield; Mrs. Eugene Eberhart of Ben Davis,and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Smith of Success, Mo.

The body of Mr. Fielden was laid to rest beside his wife in the City Cemetery.
