Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 15, 1959:

Laura Loucks, daughter of Peter and Mary Loucks, was born near Moundridge, Kansas, on Mar. 25, 1883, where she grew to womanhood and received her schooling.She was united in marriage to Charles W. Grant. This home was blest with four children, two sons and two daughters.Laura and her family lived in different places, and after the passing of her mother she lived with, and cared for her aged father a number of years, for which her father and the family were very grateful. After the passing of her father she moved to Hesston, Kansas, where she made her home the last 18 years.Laura's life was not always on roses, but, rather she went through many hardships and disappointments, yet her life was spared and God knows best, saw her heart and future, and by His love she was brought to repentance and forgiveness of sins. In telling her experience with the Lord she said, "For a long time I could not sleep. I was so troubled, until I acknowledged my sins, and surrendered to God and His will. Then peace came into my heart and I could rest." At her request she was baptized and joined the church of her parents, the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on Jan. 26, 1958, to which faith in her weakness she was faithful to the end. It was indeed a blessing to know that she accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour, Lord and Master in her old age, and be accepted of Him, to be with Him in Glory.Laura was not in good health for some years, nevertheless, quite active. The last year or so her health declined. On July 1st she was visited and it was evident that she was quite ill. Then on the 2nd she was taken to Bethel Hospital, Newton, where she soon lapsed into a coma and passed away July 5, at 1 P.M., apparently without regaining consciousness.She reached the age of 76 years, 3 months and 11 days.She leaves to mourn her departure 4 children, Herbert of Waukegan, Ill., Anna (Mrs. Howard Stivers) of Tulsa, Okla., Lottie (Mrs. Glen Christie) of Nampa, Idaho, and Peter whose address is not known; Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren; also two brothers and two sisters, Jessie of Copeland, Kansas, Jonas of Wichita, Kansas, Dora (Mrs. Abe Jantz) of Weir, Kansas, and Samatha (Mrs. Noah Unruh) of Galva, Kansas. Her husband, Charles W. Grant, her parents, two brothers, and four sisters and one grandson, preceded her in death. She also leaves a large circle of relatives.With this we trust her into the care of our Heavenly Father.

Mother was tired and weary;
Weary with toil and pain,
Put by her glasses and rocker,
Needle and thread she will not need again.

Into heaven's mansions she entered,
Never to sorrow or to weep,
After long years with life's struggles,
Mother has fallen asleep.

Funeral services were held Tuesday July 7, 1959 in the Meridian Mennonite Church, with Min. Frank Wenger in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.
