Mount Airy - Mrs. Vissie Stanley Beamer, 80, of 1220 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, widow of Charley M. Beamer died Friday afternoon at The Presbyterian Home in High Point after a long illness. She was born in Surry County, daughter of the late Richard Johnson and Elizabeth Baker Stanley. She was a retired seamstress and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Surviving are five daughters Mrs. Glenn (Margaret) Kerns of High Point, Mrs. Edward (Gypsy) Dumas of Conway, South Carolina, Mrs. Bobby (Annie Ruth) Simmons of Mount Airy, Mrs. Boyd (Frances) Priddy of Thomasville and Mrs. Dwight (Mildred) Matthews of Yadkinville; two brothers, Willy R. Stanley of Thurmon and Morgan G. Stanley of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Funeral service Sunday at 3:30 at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with burial to follow in the Bear Creek Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Moodys from 7:00 to 9:00 Saturday night. The family requests that memorials be made to the Surry County Chapter of American Cancer Society.

Paternal grandparents were Jesse (he started Bear Creek Baptist Church) and Sarah Wilmoth Stanley. Maternal grandparents were David and Elizbeth Hutchens Baker.
