Richard Johnson Stanley was a farmer, a Justice of the Peace and a Mason.

On 17 February 1881 when Richard Johnson "Dick" Stanley was 27, he married Elizabeth Catherine "Lizzie" BAKER, daughter of David BAKER & Elizabeth HUTCHENS, in Surry County, North Carolina.
