As an attorney, he practiced law in Woodstock, Shenandoah County, VA., where he was a prominent citizen. "Crimland" was the name of his home in Woodstock.

"Frank Brumback, 76, Dean of Shenandoah Co. Bar, Dies"
Frank H.Brumback, age 76, Dean of the Shenandoah Bar, where he had practiced continuously for 51 years, died between 5 and 5:30 o'clock yesterday morning in the Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital. He had entered the hospital on Nov. 11, suffering from a heart ailment, and was critically ill from that time. Mr. Brumback's full name was Franklin Holiday Brumback, but he wrote his name and was known as Frank H. Brumback. He spent his entire life in
and near Woodstock. He entered the practice of law in Woodstock in 1904, after graduating from Professor Monroe Hottle's private academy in Woodstock, and then from Roanoke College in 1903, and the Washington and Lee University Law School in Lexington in 1904. He was the oldest member in age and in years of the Bar. He engaged almost exclusively in criminal practice, and defended many person both in Trial Justice Court and in Circuit Court. Also, his services were in constant demand in the surrounding counties of Frederick, Warren, Rockingham, and other nearby counties and cities. Mr.Brumback had no hobbies, unless reading could be considered one. He was a voracious reader his entire life. His main interest was in his family, his profession and in politics. He was chairman of the Shenandoah County Democratic Committee for many years until he resigned in Dec. 1953. He also took an active part in the Democratic Party of Virginia. He was a Mason and a Shriner. Born near Woodstock on Dec. 7, 1878, Mr. Brumback was a son of the late Joseph B. and Julia Copp Brumback. He married Miss Emma Jane Crim, daughter of a prominent New Market family, Oct. 24, 1910. They maintained their home for many years at "Crimland", on the western edge of Woodstock, which is one of the finer homes of the community, with its lovely restored colonial-type home, and gorgeous rose garden, maintained by Mrs.Brumback. Besides Mrs. Brumback, there survives one daughter, Miss Mary Elizabeth Brumback, at home; and four brothers, Wade H.Brumback, Woodstock, Earl C. Brumback, Middletown, Dr. Edward Brumback, Baltimore, and Henry Brumback, Philadelphia. The body is at the Delinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. Services will be conducted from the chapel there Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock by the Rev. Lester A. Wertz, pastor of the Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market, the home church of Mrs. Brumback and interment will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Market. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Active pallbearers will be J. Walter Bailey, Dr. H.W. Miller, E.E. Gollady, B.E. Nelson, Dan Burner, Elwood F. Luttrel, James D. Peer, and Robert H. Morrison. The Shenandoah County Bar will attend in a body, and a memorial session of Shenandoah County Circuit Court will be held at 1 o'clock.
