He was born April 3, 1922, in Rudyard, Michigan, the son of Eino J. and Saima E. (Mayry) Halonen.
He served in the United States Navy during W W II.
Ray married the former Ennid H. Johnson, May 3, 1941, in Detroit, she survives.
He was employed by the General Motors Corporation, as an Engineer, retiring in 1981, as Superintendent of the Engineering Department with thirty-one years of service.
He is also survived by a son, Rodney J. Halonen, D.D.S. of Battle Creek, daughter, Teresa A. Halonen-Dusic of Cloverdale, Oregon, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, sister-in-law, Joann Halonen of Walled Lake, brother, Filmore Halonen of Hancock, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Halonen in May of 1991.
He attended Westlake Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed high school sports, current events, attending educational classes, personal fitness and sports and spending time with his wife, grandchildren, friends and community.
