George Patrick (Pat) Chaney, 69 years old, of Route 2, Broxton, died early Wednesday morning at the Douglas-Coffee County Hospital following a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Lucy Raith of West Palm Beach, Florida, Mrs. (Della) Virgil Thomas of West Palm Beach, Florida, Mrs. (Mae Bell) Arthur Harper of West Palm Beach Florida, Mrs. (Agnes) Reason Rowell of Broxton, Georgia, Mrs. (Ella Mae) J. T. Grimes of Douglas, Georgia;
four sons, Joe Chaney of Douglas, Georgia, W. P. Chaney of Douglas, Georgia, Lester Chaney of Hazelhurst, Georgia, Will Chaney of West Green, Georgia, Dan Chaney of West Palm Beach, Florida;
five sisters, Mrs. D.W. Whittle of Broxton, Georgia, Mrs. Enoch Worth of Broxton, Georgia, Mrs. Emma Teston of Augusta, Georgia, Mrs. J. Cumbass of Douglas, Georgia, Mrs. E.D. Douglas of McRae Georgia; 28 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Rocky Pond Church near Douglas by Rev. Henry Sears. Burial will follow in Rocky Pond Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Carl Young, Vernon Johnson, R. J. Ford, Oliver Taylor, Willie Thomas, and Henry Davis.
