He was born Saturday, Sept. 13, 1919, in Nelson County, a son of the late Cel and Laura Dodd Campbell.
He retired after 40 years of service from Baugher Chevrolet.
Mr. Campbell was a member of Beech Grove Christian Church and attended West Waynesboro Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Irving Campbell, Haywood Campbell, Berkeley Campbell, Mulford Campbell and Maphis Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Thompson Campbell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Zane Campbell Pierce and Dr. John Pierce, and Kam Campbell Wooten and Mervil Wooten; a sister, Thelma Leech; three grandsons, Thomas W. Lincoln, Chris Wooten and Brandon Wooten; a granddaughter-in-law, Michelle Vaughn Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Beech Grove Christian Church by the Revs. Elwood Campbell and Ray Coffey with burial in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Danny Leech, Edwin "Jim" Leech, Jerry Campbell, Chester Campbell, Glen Leech and Landieth Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Lyons, Leonard Sipe, Martin Truslow, Luther McGann, Elbert Rexrode, Carroll Campbell, Ronnie Campbell, Frank Napier, James Sheffield, William Ferrier, Denny Brooks, Richard Wiseman and Bill Lincoln.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
