Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lansing for Mrs. Sever Johnson, 82, who passed away Thursday evening at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She had suffered a paralytic stroke earlier in the week and has been in failing health for some time past.
As Anna Hanson she was born in Allamakee County on April 23, 1879, a daughter of Karen and Andrew Hanson, pioneer settlers and attended the rural schools of the community. In 1902 she was married to Sever Johnson at Beloit, Wisconsin and they have made their home in Lansing for more than the last forty years after residing some time at Stoughton, Wisconsin. Her husband preceded her in death on December 21, 1951 and left to mourn her passing is one son Howard, at home and one sister Mrs. Julia Nelson, of Cumberland Wisconsin. Besides, nieces, nephews, and a number of cousins.
Resident pastor Rev. Oradell-Nordness officiated and said the final prayers at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery where interment was made in the family lot. Casket bearers were longtime friends and neighbors including Alex Knutson, James Peterson, Dennis O’Malley, John Beck, Carl Slindee and Lawrence Prostsman.
