Services for Samuel David "AL" Alfred, 57, of Lufkin, were held Saturday, Dec. 18 in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Fielder Cemetery.

Mr. Alfred was born June 14, 1947 in Jasper, and died Tuesday, Dec. 14 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Houston. He was a trailer body builder for Lufkin Industries' Trailer Division, where he had been employed for 35 years. He served with the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam and was the resipient of a Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Alfred was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Lufkin and had resided in Lufkin most of his life.
