Charles A. STRETCH was born on 27 Mar 1854 in Iowa. He was married to Miss Mary Troxel by Elder Martin Scott, March 24,1877. Had he been permitted to live until their next wedding anniversary, they would have had the pleasure of spending fifty years of wedded life together. To this union were born thirteen children, eleven of whom are still living, two having died in infancy. The family and other near relatives were present and were faithful in administering to his needs during his sickness.

The living children are William Thomas, of Coffey; John Alva of Gilman City; Richard A.; Charles Earl, Elmer David and Guy O., all of Jamesport; Ira Martin and Omer G. of Wauneta, NE.; Mrs. John Bennett of Phillipsburg, KS, Mrs. Oscar Bennett of Bostwick, NE., Lizzie, who lives at home with her parents. Besides the children he leaves his aged wife, who has been his devoted companion for almost a half century, also twenty-six grandchildren.

At the aged of 21 years he was converted at Old Scotland and was a faithful member to his death. He spent his entire life in the Gilman City Community. He lived to see his children all grown to maturity.

After a lingering illness he was called to rest February 11, 1927, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 14 days.
