The tombstone inscription is said to include the following:
In the 1860 census he lived in LaHarpe Township, Hancock County, IL
Died June 17, 1873, aged 82 Ys. 3 Ms. 6 Ds. This calculates to a birth date of March 11, 1791, and agrees with the birth date reported in a biography of his son, John K. Fisher. The same biography, however, states that Thomas Fisher died in 1868.
He was a mill-wright, on coming to Blandinsville he built a saw and grist mill there, besides other mills in the county, working at the trade for nearly 20 years. History of McDonough County, Illinois - 1885, ((Springfield, IL: Continental Historical Co., 1885)
He married (first) Mary "Polly" Kells on Mar 30, 1815;
