Funeral services for George Wiley Jones, 62, retired U. S. Army Staff Sergeant were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Hersman Chapel. He died in Lawton on Thanksgiving, November 25, 1965, of a heart attack.
Born, November 14, 1903, in Dexter, Kansas, to Frederick and Beda (Dover) Jones. He was a member of a Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. H. S. Martin of Peggs, officiated at the services. George married Edna Lee Walker December 24, 1936 in Wagoner, Wagoner County, Oklahoma.
Survivors are his wife, Edna, of the home in Lawton; one son, George (Beverly) Jones, Jr., of Lawton; six daughters, Mrs. LaVerne (Bob) Thorp, Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Wanda (Bob) Lucas, Altus, Oklahoma, Mrs. Norma (Richard) Cothren and Mrs. Barbara (Keith) Givens, both of Lawton, Mrs. Norlene (Carl) Rose, Sand Springs, and Mrs. Nadine (Stanley) Maxwell of Tulsa; two brothers, Fred of Muskogee and Oda of Tulsa; four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Reck of Talala, Oklahoma, Mrs. Maudie Rowland of Coweta, Mrs. Myrtle Benningfield of Tulsa and Mrs. Adra Reck of Skiatook.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Two sons; David Eugene and Kenneth Ray and one daughter, Eugenia Lee. One brother, Johnnie Martin.
Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, Oklahoma.
