Bessie Parks
Bessie M. Parks was born November 22, 1890 at Larrabee, in Cherokee County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Adelbert and Mabel Libby Phelps. She married Arthur James Parks July 3, 1907 at Neligh, Nebraska. They farmed many years in Union Township, Plymouth County, Iowa. In 1946 they went to Arnolds Park. They spent the summers in Arnolds Park and winters in Arizona. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in LeMars until moving to Arnolds Park, where she joined the Friends Church. Bessie has been active in church work. Bessie died May 29, 1975 at the Hospital Prescott, Arizona, where she has been a patient since the fall of 1974 suffering from a broken hip. Services were held Monday, June 2 at the Free Methodist Church in LeMars, with Rev. Paul Baiotto and Rev. Duane Pridey officiating. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1944, one son, Wilbur in 1962, one infant daughter and three brothers. Survivors include; Ronald Parks, Prescott and Arnolds Park; Lowell Parks, Rural Remsen; Mrs. Aurel Collett, St. Louis Mo.;Mrs. Pauline Dempster, Rural LeMars; Mrs. Charlotte Lyons, Boone; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Interment was in LeMars Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Arthur J. Parks
Mrs. Arthur J. Parks, 84, Arnolds Park, died Thursday, May 29, 1975, in a hospital at Prescott, Ariz. where she was spending the winter. She had been ill for several months. On Jan. 17, 1975 she sustained a broken hip. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Free Methodist church, LeMars. Rev. Paul Baiotto and Rev. Duane Pridey officiated. Burial was in LeMars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer Funeral home, LeMars.

Mrs. Parks, the former Bessie Phelps, was born Nov. 22, 1890, at Larrabee. She was married July 3, 1907, at Neligh, Neb. The couple lived on a farm near LeMars. Mr. Parks died in 1944. Two years later she moved to Arnolds Park. Survivors are two sons, Ronald of Arnolds Park and Prescott; Lowell of rural Remsen; three daughters, Mrs. Aurel Collett, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Pauline Dempster, rural LeMars; and Mrs. Charlotte Lyons, Boone. There are 18 granchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
