He died of wounds on 9/14/1862. He (according to civil war papers) was also known as Richard Burdge. He was born in 1833 in Hamilton County, Ohio, the son of Richard and Mrs. Burdge. He married Mahala Jackson in Marion County, Indiana on Jan. 16, 1859 and was the father of John W. and Mary 'Annie" Owens.Last Name: Burdge

Pvt. Richard Burge, Co. E, 12th Indiana Infantry, died 14 September 1862 of wounds received during the Battle of Richmond. He was originally buried either on the battlefield or in the Richmond Cemetery. According to the Roll of Honor, his remains were reinterred in 1869 in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County, Kentucky.
