Daniel served in the Union Army during the Civil War: 58th Infantry Regiment (Ohio), Company H. He enlisted Oct. 5, 1861. He was wounded at Grand Gulf, Mississippi, and served on a gunboat for eight months at Vicksburg. He was discharged Sept. 16, 1865.
Daniel was the son of David HUFFORD, Sr., and Sarah BEERY.
He married Matilda TROXEL on June 20, 1864, while he was home on furlough from the Civil War. They were the parents of Charles Lincoln, Edward Elmer, Lizzie Jane, Gertrude Arzeltha, Della Viola, Cora Blanche, and Daniel Corvan.
