Dorothy L. Scheideman, 76, of Great Bend, died April 7 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. She was born Sept. 3, 1932, in rural Rush County, the daughter of Walter and Charlotte Fyler Renner. She married Kenneth Scheideman on May 8, 1955, at La Crosse. He died Aug. 7, 2002. She was a telephone operator for 38 years at La Crosse, Great Bend and Colorado Springs, Colo., retiring from AT&T. She was a resident of Rush and Barton counties most of her life.
Mrs. Scheideman was a member of First Christian Church, Great Bend, and Telephone Pioneers.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda K. Boyer and husband William of Springfield, Mass.; a grandson, Jason Boyer of Springfield, Mass.; and a great-granddaughter, Leilah Boyer. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Renner and Vernon Renner, and three sisters, Ruth Wilson, Alice MacArthur and Barbara Nelson.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Great Bend, with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiant. Interment will be at 1 p.m. at the La Crosse City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with family to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend.
