George Blaine, son of Phillip and Cinderella Blaine, born March 28, 1881, in Scotland County, Mo., departed this life at the Greater Community Hospital, Creston, Iowa, April 30, 1964, at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 2 days. He grew up in the community of his birth, and at the age of 25 was united in marriage to Ollie Aldridge, at Lancaster, Mo., November 23, 1906.
They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary last fall. To this union, 4 children were born. Two daughters preceded him in death: Alma Mae, at the age of 15 months, and Allie, at the age of 16 years, also his parents, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters. To cherish his memory is his loving wife, Ollie, his son, Ova Blaine of Corning, la., and a daughter, Mrs Vada Calvin of Lenox, and 8 grandchildren, also one brother and three sisters, all living in Missouri.
He was baptized in early life. The family moved to Iowa in 1921 and he became a member of the Sharpsburg Presbyterian Church. After moving to Lenox, in 1937,
he transferred his membership to the Presbyterian Church in Lenox.
He worked for the City Street Commission for several years. After retiring, he spent his time with his family and taking care of his home that he cherished so much. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and will be sadly missed by all.
