John Elmer Riggleman was born September 29, 1864 and died September 25, 1938 at the age of 73 years 11 months and 27 days.
On December 25, 1889 he was united in marriage to Roberta L. Pratt and to this union were born 10 children, seven who still survive, Mrs. Elsie Coby, Mrs. Ada Smith of Cumberland, Md., Mrs. Wilma Cravens of Chicago; Mrs. Pearl Evans, Elmer, Claude and Paul Riggleman of Rig.Two daughters, Helen and Ethel, and one son Charles, preceded him to the grave several years ago; also surviving is his second wife, Mrs. M. D. Riggleman, of Champaign, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Cosner, of Thomas, WV and four brothers W. H. Riggleman of Fairmont, W. Va., H. H. Riggleman, of Kessel, Harvey Riggleman of Petersburg and Lincoln Riggleman of Rig.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Floyd Coby, Orville Smith, Alvin, Charles, Carl and Freeman Riggleman. Flower girls were his granddaughters, Elizabeth Coby, Ruby Smith, Viola and Ruth Riggleman, Rebecca and Dorothy Evans.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. N. Young in the Presbyterian Church at Rig after which his body was laid to rest in the Newhouse Cemetery.
