Services for John F. Doden, 87, were held Aug.19 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello, with burial following in the Wayne Zion Cemetery. The Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson conducted the services.
John Doden died Aug. 17 in the Senior Home, Monticello, where he had been a resident the past two and a half months.
John Frederick Doden was born near Monticello on Feb. 24, 1894. He was the son of John F. Doden and Talke M. Dirks Doden. He received his early education in the Jones County rural schools.
John F. Doden and Frieda M. Dirks were married on Feb. 13, 1917 in Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Following their marriage the couple farmed in Jones County. Mrs. Doden preceded her husband in death on Jan. 5, 1964. Mr. Doden continued living in the Langworthy community until three years ago when he moved to Monticello.
He was a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran his entire life and had served in many offices of the church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Casket bearers were Lawrence Doden, Robert Doden, Vernon Doden, Norman Hinrichs, Harvey Hinrichs, Herbert Plueger, Ervin Plueger, Louis Zumbach.
