She was born Feb. 25, 1917, in rural Roanoke, a daughter of Willm and Lena Peters Mennen. She married Eilert H. Johnson on Sept. 15, 1936, in Benson. He passed away in February 1997.
Surviving is one son, Larry (Pat) Johnson, Benson; one daughter, Cynthia "Sam" Johnson, Pekin; two grandchildren, Greg (Sky) Johnson, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Jill (Patrick) Durley, Roanoke; three great-grandchildren, Marisa, Sam and Reed Durley; and five nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Don Johnson; two sisters and two brothers.
Alma participated in numerous activities with the St. Peter Lutheran Church, where she was a member, including a women's Bible study on Naomi.
She had a love and passion for her life and family and especially enjoyed her family get-togethers.
