She was born March 12, 1923 in Lafayette, LA to Bernard and Editha Alleman Himel.
Hilda is survived by her children Randolph Sonnier, Douglas Sonnier and wife Linda, Neil Sonnier, Maria Bearb and husband Peter, Marc Sonnier, James Sonnier and wife Mary; sister Bernadette Menard; several special nieces and nephews; grandchildren Haley Sonnier, Zachary and Seth Sonnier, Sarah S. Scully, Timothy, Jennifer and Joseph Bearb; Claire, Rebecca and Lindsey Sonnier.
Hilda was a member of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church.
She will be laid to rest at the side of her husband of over fifty years, Ollie Sonnier, at 2:00 P.M., following the mass, at Houston National Cemetery.
The world is a bit poorer today for it has lost a very special light. Hilda Himel Sonnier has left all who loved her here and is once again at the side of those she loved who have passed before her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her but we are comforted to know she rejoined with our father. Her life touched so many and she was treasured by all. We are all better for having known her and that is perhaps life's greatest achievement. She was a loving and devoted sister, aunt, wife, mother and grandmother.
