Mrs. Virginia Showalter Handy, life-long resident of Washington State, died this morning at her home, after a heart attack. She was 44 years old. Mrs. Handy, born in Goldendale, Klickitat Co, moved to Cheney, Spokane Co, as a small child. Her father, the late N.D. Showalter, was president of Cheney Normal School and later became state superintendent of public instruction. Mrs. Handy was a graduate of the University of Washington and a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She was the wife of Robert J. Handy, manager of the Seattle Teachers' Credit Union.
Also surviving are a son, J. Thomas Handy, a daughter, Miss Arabelle Handy, and a brother, N.D. Showalter, all of Seattle. Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday in Forkner's chapel, with burial in Acacia.
