The funeral of Lisbon R. Applegate, patrolman of the Trenton Police Department, was held this afternoon from his late home, 505 North Clinton Avenue. The funeral services at the house were attended by all policemen of the 11 o'clock shift in accordance with the order issued yesterday by Chief of Police, Judson Hiner:
Dear Sir - Death has again invaded the ranks of this department and taken from them Patrolman Lisbon R. Applegate, who was an active, intelligent and painstaking officer. It is with sorrow and regret that this loss must be recorded and it should serve as a reminder in the midst of life, we are in death. As recognition of his merit and in memory of the deceased, a detail of members of this department will attend the funeral which will take place from his late residence, 505 North Clinton Avenue, Tuesday afternoon, April 21, 1903, at 2 o'clock. The sergeant, roundsman and patrolmen on the 11 pm tour of duty will report at the First precinct police station at 1 o'clock. Captain John J. Cleary will command the detail. At the request of the family, the following will act as pallbearers: Roundsman William Deck, Patrolman George Mathies, Patrolman John Butterer, Patrolman George Clark and Patrolman Charles Irving.
Very Respectfully,
Judson Hiner - Chief of Police. The delegation was in command of Captain Cleary. Patrolman Applegate died Saturday after an illness of three weeks with thypoid fever. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
