Edwin Broun, a son of Thomas Broun and Elizabeth G. Lee, was prominent in public affairs and in the church. His mother was the daughter of Charles Lee of Cobbs Hall. In 1871, Broun was appointed a judge of election in the Township of wicomico. Others in that district were James E. Broun and James Harding Sr. On February 21, 1880, Broun was elected judge, taking the place of Judge Downing, who hd served until "the political upheaval known as the Redjuster movement took conrrol of the legislature after the elections of 1879." "The Readjusters were swept out of office in the elections of 1865," and John Chowning was elected judge and took office on January 1, 1886, replacing Broun. In 1979, Edwin Broun deeded to his son Roswell Bascom Broun the farm known as Litchfield, containing ninety acres. Judge Broun is buried at Easton in the Broun family cemetery. Others buried in the cemetery include his wife, Harriet C.; his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth; a son, Capt. William Broun, and his wife Bettie Lee Lawson; and a daughte, Bettie Lee Broun.
