Orpha Baker, 77, Final Rites Held September 28
Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis Glen (Orpha) Baker, 77, lifelong resident of the Gravity vicinity, were held September 28 at the Gravity Christian Church with Mr. Marty Burgus officiating. Mrs. Baker died September 26 in Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Ia. Interment was at Washington Cemetery, Gravity.
Orpha Pearl Konecne was born on a farm north of Gravity to John and Effie Konecne on August 12, 1899.
On March 26, 1919, she was married to Lewis Glen Baker. To this union three children were born, Bernard of Cedar Creek, Nebr., Mrs. Loretta Nielsen of Sioux Falls, So. Dak., and Darrell of Griswold, Ia.
Orpha lived in the Gravity vicinity all of her life. She was a member of Fairview Church and later transferred to Gravity Christian Church. She was active in church and other activities until her recent illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, Ora, and son-in-law, Lars Nielsen.
She is survived by her three children; two daughters-in-law, Hazel and Joan; five grandchildren; two great grandsons; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Roberts of Vancouver, Wash., and Grace Foster of Gravity; one brother, Fred Konecne of Creston, Ia.; many other relatives and friends.
Orpha was a true friend and good neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
