Jewett was the son of Joseph Gibson & Sarah A (Douglas) Cole who were married Aug 10, 1871 in Springfield, IL. Joseph was born Apr 24, 1846 at Raleigh, Wake, NC. He died Mar 17, 1926 at Lebanon, KS. Sarah was born Aug 4, 1855 at Springfield, IL. She died Apr 24, 1932 at LaVerne, OK.

Jewett married Bernice Ecord Sep 28, 1921 at Clayton, KS. He farmed and worked in a store for several years near Clayton and Norcatur in Kansas. About 1937 they moved to Norton, KS where he worked for the County Highway Dept. In 1940 they moved to Marquette where he worked on the dam for Kanapolis Reservoir. Then he worked for McPherson County Highway Dept as a "finish man" until his death.
