Saul Cook, a son of Barnabas and Mercy (Brown) Cook, was
born in Marshfield Massachusetts May 17, 1757 and died at Litchfield, Maine January 8, 1846. He served in the Revolutionary War. In part, his pension application of 1818 reads:

"I, Saul Cook, aged sixty years, a citizen of the United States born in Marshfield, Mass., but now of Litchfield, Maine. Upon oath, testify and declare that in Dec. 1775, I enlisted as a private soldier in the War of the Revolution for the term of one year into the company
commanded by Capt. Cushing and the Regiment commanded by Colonel Greaton of Massachusetts Regiment. I served my full enlistment and enlisted for two months longer in the same regiment."
"I was in a Battle on Lake Champlain under General Arnold. I took my final discharge at Morristown, New Jersey.

On February 23, 1781, Saul married (Margaret) Elizabeth Snow, who was born in 1766 and died in 1840
