Claude Bernard Hinnant was born 1878 in Wilder Township, Johnston County, NC, the 5th of 8 known surviving children (4 boys/4 girls) born to farmer and CSA Capt. Little Berry Hinnant and his wife, Catherine "Kate" Chamblee. His father served with the "Clayton Yellow Jackets", NC 24th, Co. C.
