He married Maria Jaramillo on September 19, 1858 in Seboyeta, New Mexico and migrated west to San Mateo, New Mexico after the Civil War. He was a member of the 2nd militia volunteers in New Mexico for the United States in the Calvary.
His wife passed away around 1885 and he and his children relocated to Concho, Arizona where they settled with other early Arizona pioneers. He can be seen in a photo with other family members in the book, "Concho the Enchanted Pearl".
He returned to San Mateo where he passed away on Jan 15, 1916 and is buried next to his wife, Maria.
His siblings were; Ignacio, Jose Rafael, Manuel and Jose Antonio Marquez. His half brother's were; Manuel, Jose Maria and Pablo Pena.
