Funeral services for Jacob Bursik Sr., 81, 1820 Merrill Ave., Wausau, who died April 5, were held Saturday at Mannel Funeral Home, Rib Lake. The Rev. Lynn Broughton of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wausau, officiated. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake. Pallbearers were Russell and Jake Kapitz, Michael Cihasky, Steve Olah, Kemp Jochimsen and Adolph Vlach. Mr. Bursik was born Sept. 26, 1891, in Bohemia. On June 23, 1920, in Minneapolis, Minn., he was married to Cindy Kapitz, who survives. He was an Army veteran of World War I and was a member of the United States Military Academy Band while in service. After his military service he lived in Omaha, Neb., Minneapolis, Minn., and Berwyn, Ill. He moved to Rib Lake in 1926 and had a dairy farm there for 44 years. He moved to Wausau in 1970. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Active in music all his life, he had been a member of the Western Electric Band, the Union Pacific Band, Minneapolis Civic Band, Westboro and Rib Lake community bands and numerous orchestras. Survivors besides his wife include a son, Jacob D. Bursik Jr., 8104 N. Mountain Rd., Wausau; a daughter, Mrs. Carl O. Johnson, Wausau Route 5; three sisters, Miss Rose Bursik and Miss Mary Bursik, both of Wausau, and Mrs. Anne Vosyka, Berwyn, Ill.; seven grand children and a great grandchild.
