Aged Resident Succumbs to Several Months' Illness.

Isaac Gruver, an aged resident of Independence, died last evening, February 3rd, at 11:40 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. F. Hughes, of this city, aged 73 years. He had been ill all winter, the cause of his death being Bright's disease and dropsy.
Mr. Gruver was a native of Ohio, being born in that State, August 3, 1836. He came to Iowa with his parents when a child. The family first lived in Jackson County and he came to Independence ten or twelve years ago, having resided in Waterloo for a few years before his removal to this city. In March 1862, he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Wood, who, with seven children, mourn his heath. The surviving children are Mrs. Hattie Hayward, of Sayre, Oklahoma; Mrs. Rose March, of South Dakota; Isham, Thomas, and Arthur Gruver, of Waterloo; Mrs. Grace Syres, of Walker, and Mrs. Hughes, of Independence. Mrs. Gruver's death is also mourned by two sisters and two brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Joseph Updegraf, of Monmouth, this state and Mrs. Frank Burdick, of Ft. Dodge. The brothers, Perry and Marion Gruver, reside in Gowrie, Iowa and South Dakota, respectively. Mr. Gruver was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Waterloo. His death is a source of regret to his many friends in Independence and elsewhere, all of whom unite in expressions of sympathy of the sorrowing relatives.
