"Chillicothe Constitution", Monday, December 10, 1923, page 1: Death of Mrs. Conkling
Mrs. Newlan Conkling passed away at her home, 416 North Main street, Saturday morning at 1 o'clock. Death came to her after several weeks of illness and suffering, which she patiently and bravely bore the entire period. Friday evening her condition was such that she sank into a deep slumber. About 9:30 she aroused from the slumber and after recognizing her friends again sank into a deep sleep--life gradually ebbing away until the end which came peaceful and quietly as she had lived.
Miss Byrd Reynolds, the daughter of George J. and Harriett E. Reynolds was born on a farm north of Carrollton. Had she lived until the 26th of March, 1924, she would have been 41 years of age. She spent the earlier part of her life on the farm, until 1905 when with her parents she moved to California.
On the 26th day of July, 1913, Miss Reynolds became the wife of Newlan Conkling, a prominent attorney of this city. They took up their residence at the beautiful home of Mr. Conkling on north Main where they had since resided.
Funeral services were held from the family home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. J. N. Boyd. From Carrollton Democrat
