Andrew was born Anders Magnus Johansson

In 1905, Andrew wrote the following: Am a Swede by birth. Was born in Sweden in the year 1860, May 24. Came to the United States in 1868 in June. Spent my 8th birthday on the ocean. Landed in New York City and came through to Burlington Iowa. Settled in Illinois. Came to Stanton, Montgomery County, Iowa in the fall of 1871. Stayed there until the spring of 1878 when I left with mother, two sisters, Ida & Anna, and a half-brother, Otto, who was only a baby.

Settled in Rooks Co, Kansas on the NW 1/4 section 4-10-19 which was homesteaded by my mother, Mrs. Christina Hunt. When we left Iowa we had $125, one cow, one team of horses and what household goods we could haul on our wagon.

I was married to Anna North at the bride's home Dec 25, 1894.
