Eufreda "Frieda" (Rivas) Drum

When the 1910 census for San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, was taken, she was a roomer with the family of Wilhelmina Seydler. It must have been a large boarding house as there were 17 roomers and a cook listed. Her name was recorded as Frieda Rivas. The census indicated she was a trained nurse, was born about 1884 and that her parents were born in Mexico.

In the 1900 census for Bexar County, she was listed with her father and siblings as living in Justice Precinct 8 with all of them including the father born in Texas. The details of the entry for the family: Francisco, head, born Mch 1830, age 70, widowed, farmer; Fernando, son, born May 1878, age 22, day laborer; Carlos, son, born Nov 1879, age 20, day laborer; Eufreda [Frieda], daughter, born July 1881, age 18; Francisco, son, born April 1883, age 17, day laborer; Mathilda, daughter, born Mch 1885, age 15, at school; Adolpho, son, born Jan 1887, age 13, at school; and Martin, son, born Jan 1889, age 11, at school.

Looking backward from that point, the parents can be found in 1880. They were listed on June 13, 1880, in the Bexar County census as Francisco, age 50, born Texas, farmer; Anna, age 24, his wife, born Mexico; Carlos, son, age 6 months, born in November in Texas; and Fernando, son, age 2, born Texas. Francisco also had 2 nieces and a cousin living with them.

By 1930, Frieda was married to Jacob and lived in San Francisco, California. The record shows Jacob J at age 53 born in New York from German immigrants. He worked as a clerk in a school position. Frieda was listed as Eufrada at age 45 born in Texas from Texan parents. She was a chambermaid in a hotel. Their son, Frank C, was age 15 born in California.
