WINNFIELD -- Cora S. Townsend, 81, of Winnfield died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday in Winnfield General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was a native of Winn Parish.
Survivors include two sons, H. D. Townsend of Winnfield and Earl W. Townsend of Joyce; five brothers, Gene Smith, Clarence Smith, Walt R. Smith, Joe Smith and Daniel Smith, all of Sikes; two sisters, Ora Smith of Sikes and Etta Medford of Henderson, Texas; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were to be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Hixson Bros. with the Rev. Gene Lindsey officiating. Burial was to be in Old Union Cemetery near Joyce.
Pallbearers were to be Robert Townsend, Aaron Townsend, Ronald Carnes, Donald Carnes, Melvin James and Eugene Hubbard.
