Violet Carlson, 77, died Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames where she had been a patient for the past month.
She was born on May 17, 1902 in Stratford, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Neese. On Aug. 15, 1923 she married Archie Raymond Carlson in Boone.
She was a housewife and a member of the Stratford Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Stratford.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1975 and a grandson in 1978. Survivors include four sons, Robert, Loran and Orville of Stratford, and Bernard of Hawthorne, Calif.; one brother, Clifford Neese of Stratford; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stratford Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Haring officiating. Burial was at the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford. Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford was in charge of all arrangements.

Monday in the Stratford Baptist Church with burial in South Marion Cemetery, south of town. Friends may call at Hanson-Stark-Wellin Funeral Home from 4 to 9 P.M. Sunday and on Monday at the church until time of service.
