Mr. Brister, 80, died Jan. 19, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Lincoln County on April 3, 1928, to George "Buddy" Tillman Brister and Fannie Bullock Brister.
He was retired from general maintenance at General Motors. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Southway Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his first wife, Norma Jean Brister.
Survivors are his wife, Hazel Meenach Brister, of Brookhaven; a son, Lyndell "Dale" Brister and wife, Karanita, of Brookhaven; his stepsons, Jerry Keeton and Johnathan Keeton; his sisters, Lydia Allen, of Baton Rouge, La., and Arlo Miller, of Loveland, Colo.; his two grandchildren, Kayla Brister and Cody Brister; his 11 stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
