Stroke Fatal to Mrs. Berry
Former Ellettsville Resident Dies in Chicago
Mrs. Margaret A. Berry, 91, died at 1 p.m. Monday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Julia Hansford, whom she had been visiting in Chicago. Death was caused by a stroke of apoplexy.
She is a former resident of Ellettsville, and a widow of William Berry, who died June 18, 1899.
Survivors besides Mrs. Hansford, are the children, Charles Berry of Brownsville, Texas, Frank Berry of Bloomington, George Berry, of Ellettsville, Samuel Berry of Indianapolis, Mrs. Will Headley, of Chicago, Mrs. Otis Hawkins of Bloomington; one sister, Mrs. Emma Everman, of Bloomington; 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. last Wednesday at the Day chapel with Rev. W. Douglas Rae, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial in the M.E. cemetery at Ellettsville.
She was born at Harpers Ferry, Va., going from there to Ellettsville. Later she moved to Bloomington, and was a resident at her home on west Kirkwood avenue, for 25 years. She had been active in the service lodge and relief corps
