Lodema McCOMMONS, 84, of Benton died at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, in
Severin's Intermediate Care Home in Benton. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Clinton Woodfin officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday to the funeral home. She was born July 27, 1921, in Dongola, the daughter of Malby
O. and Henrietta Davault Eddleman. She married Van C. McCommons on Jan. 20, 1936, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1997. Mrs.
McCommons was a very active and devoted member of the North Benton Baptist Church, where she was involved with the JOY group at the church.

Survivors include her children, George McCommons and wife, Marcella, of Dongola, Judy Dixon and husband, Bill, of Benton, Vanita Neve and husband, Louis, of Macomb,
Mary Helen Holman of Ewing, Wesley McCommons and wife, Lois, of Olathe, Kan., and Stephen McCommons and wife, SaLinda, of Benton; 18 grandchildren, 33
great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Melba Heaton and husband, Don, of Carthage, Mo., and a brother, Frank Eddleman and wife, Laura, of Marissa.

Mrs. McCommons' parents, husband, son-in-law, Stanley Holman , one brother and one sister preceded her in death.
