Mr. Barbee was born on September 5 ,1924 in Haskell County, Texas and has been a life long resident of Haskell County. He married Ruby Anderson on July 9, 1943 in Haskell. He was a farmer and worked at Lisle Gin and Co-op gin. He served in the Army during WWII as a Sargeant in the Phillipines. He fought in the New Guinea Luzon and received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Rule.
Survivors include his wife Ruby of the home; 3 sons, Jerry R. Barbee of Minden, NV., Donnie Barbee of Big Springs, TX and Larry Barbee of Haskell; 1 daughter, Jami Anders of Abilene; 3 brothers, Otho Barbee of Amarillo, C. B. Barbee of Bronte, and Ernest Barbee of Canton; 1 sister, Iona Sellers of Bronte; and 9 grandchildren.
