Services for Myrtle Gauntt, 88, were held in the First Presbyterian Church. She was the former owner of the Gauntt Furniture Store and Funeral Home. She died in a nursing home in Wolfe City, Texas. Born in Haskell, Texas, her father donated the land for the city of Rochester. Myrtle Carothers married Floyd Gauntt on 26 July 1919 in Kansas City, Kansas. They moved to Rule in 1926. She and her husband owned the Gauntt Furniture Store and Funeral Home in Rule from 1926 to 1956. They moved to Abilene where they lived from 1959 to 1972. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Chruch, Order of the Eastern Star, and Beauceant Auxiliary of the Commandry Masons. Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters; three sisters; one brother; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
