AVONDALE - Herman Charles Tipton Jr. 76, of Avondale, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 29, 1931, in Zanesville. He was a retired self-employed truck driver hauling out of Sidwell Brothers for more than 30 years. He had also worked at David Davies and he helped organize and volunteered for the Mud Cat Divers water rescue unit. He was a member of Trinity Full Gospel Church. His hobbies included card playing, fishing, hunting and bowling.
He is survived by his children, Frank (Barb) Tipton, Nancy Massey, Linda (Lewis) Linn, Troy (Alicia) Tipton and Mike (Kandi) Tipton; grandchildren, Jeremy (Deanna) Massey, Stephanie Storts, Leikan Brown, Danielle McNeish, Megan McNeish, Eleni Tipton, Damion Tipton, Destynie McHenry and Dalton Talbert; one great-grandson, Branson Hartman; brothers and sisters, Jim (Shirley) Tipton, Larry (Mick) Tipton, Kay (Dan) Murgatroyd and Sis (Jim) Martin; sister-in-law, Jean Tipton; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; loving friend, Emma Huey; and special neighbors, the Barkers, the Hoges, and Johnny Sagle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Zella Tipton; parents, Herman Sr. and Velma Tipton; one brother, John E. Tipton.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 5, at William Thompson and Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive, White Cottage.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Terry Rowland officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care or Trinity Full Gospel Church.
