Martha Brown was born in Holmes County, Ohio, May 15, 1827, and died at her homes in Brunswick on Sunday, Spet. 6, 1908, at 10:30 o'clock p.m. aged 81 years, 3 months and 22 days. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church Tuesday by the pastor, Rev. C.M. Lewellen, after which sorrowing friends followed the remains to the Lower cemetery, where they were tenderly lowered to their last earthly resting place.
The subject of our sketch was united in marriage to Samuel Miller, in her native county, Dec. 13, 1843, and to their union 14 children were born, 7 sons and 7 daughters. Ten of these, 4 sons and 6 daughters, with their father, survive the mother. They are J.M. Miller of Gretna, Nebraska; J.H. Miller of Lima, Ohio; J.B. and W.B. Miller of Greenwood County, Kansas; Mrs. Mary J. Patterson and Mrs. Rose Ousley of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; Mrs. Sarah Lousignont and Mrs. Ella Baker of Brookfield, Mo.; Mrs. Alice Fields of Forest City, Mo., and Mrs Emma Doughtery, of Dawson, Nebraska.
All the children were able to attend the service except Mrs Fields and Joseph Miller.
Mrs. Miller united with the M.E. Church in 1842, and in 1867 she united with the Christian church in Linn county, Kansas. More than 66 years of her life were given to the service of her redeemer.
Her aged husband, with whom she shared the joys and sorrows of life for nearly 65 years, is now in his 88th year. Her death is indeed a sad experience to him in his feebleness, and he has the sincerest sympathies of all.
Besides the relatives mentioned above, Mrs. Miller leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous friends to mourn her loss.
The Brunswicker joins in extending sincerest sympathies to all.
