On October 31, 1952, she was united in marriage to Frank T. Smart, and together they shared twenty-two years before his passing on April 10, 1975.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Junior and Herbert Doublin; and five sisters, Agnes Armstrong, Ollie Fulkerson, Audrey Anthony, Faye Wright, and Bonnie Lawson.
Virginia is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Blankenship, and her husband, Jack, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Ann Neeb, of Merkel, Texas; three sons, Jay Green, and his wife, Nancy, of Fair Grove, Missouri, Vic Smart, and his wife, Linda, of Hockley, Texas, and Coy Smart, and his wife, Janice, of Splendora, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Marta McMillin, Mike Neher, Greta Patten, Karen Calhoun, Dustin Lewis, Michelle Young, Crystal Neeb, Jacob Green, Jared Green, Tanya McNutt, and Robin Goolsby; seventeen great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Caitie and Karsyn Calhoun, Nathan, Nikki, Kellessee and Lorissa Neher, Graysen and Cole Patten, Joseph McMillin, Noah and Asher Young, Dustin, Morgan and Nikki McNutt, Cody and Tommy Goolsby; two brothers, Paul Doublin and David Doublin, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Margaret Boggs, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.

She was born and raised in rural Laclede County, Missouri. She then lived her early adult years in the Fort Worth, Texas area. After she and Frank were married, they made their home in Houston, Texas where they lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Virginia also worked as the manager of apartments for the HUD project for several years. After retiring, she returned to Lebanon and made her home in Madison Manor for the last eighteen years.

Virginia professed her faith in Christ at an early age, and was an active member of Second Freewill Baptist Church in Lebanon.

She loved caring for and motivating her neighbors, playing games, eating out with family and friends, and going to yard sales. She used to enter her jellies and salsa in the County Fair and always won ribbons. She liked going on outings with the Madison Manor friends and enjoyed spending time in both Missouri and Texas. She was a strong willed lady who was never shy about sharing her opinion on things. She loved her family dearly and some of her greatest joys came from family reunions and music gatherings.

Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday March 17, 2009 at the Second Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in New Home Cemetery near Falcon, Missouri. Visitation Monday evening 7-8:30 pm under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
