On June 28, 1950, at the First Baptist Church, in Paris, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to George Elbert Lawson, Sr., and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, on January 30, 1993; two brothers, Junior and Herbert Doublin; and five sisters, Peggy Ruth Doublin, Agnes Armstrong, Audrey Anthony, Faye Wright, and Ollie Fulkerson.
Bonnie is survived by a daughter, Margaret Painter, and her husband, Lonnie, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, George Lawson, Jr., and his wife, Janie, of Roland, Oklahoma, and Bill Lawson, of Fort Smith, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Chad Michael Painter, Krysta Nicole Lawson, Sasha Jade Lawson, Kerrye Anne Lawson, and Maverick Chance Lawson; two brothers, David Doublin, and his wife, Pauline, and Paul Doublin, and his wife, Linda, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Virginia Smart, and Margaret Boggs, both of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri. Soon after she and George were married, they made their home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family and a supportive policeman's wife, she worked as a meat wrapper for Milgram's Grocery for a number of years. In 2004, she moved back to the Lebanon area.
Bonnie made her profession of faith in Christ at a revival at the Happy Hill Church, near Oakland, Missouri, when she was twelve years old. She was an active member of the Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas for many years, where she was in charge of the cooking ministry of the church.
She was a wonderful cook and was particularly known for her baked items, such as cookies and cinnamon rolls. She was a very giving person and always focused on others' needs more than her own. Her family was foremost in her life and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren, several of which lovingly called her "Meema".
Bonnie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and all that she accomplished and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
