Old letter belonging to Bessie Niles Schnell. Written by Henry Niles: From Jerry Grundon, daughter of Minnie Niles Birt "At Borghart`s old place. December 27, 1893" "Dear children, grandchildren, and all old neighbors and friends; I have seated myself to try to write a few lines so you will see I am alive yet, and I am happy to say I have nothing to write but peace and good will. I hope this will find you all in the enjoyment of the blessings of life as handed down by our kind Heavenly Father. Since I left you, I have been nine weeks in the Valley of the Shadow of Death, but I lacked one step of going through it for some purpose known only to our Heavenly Father. I am called back, or at least away. I am able to walk around the room; have been out the door a few times. I am liable to be protruted again at anytime, but I am in the hands of Him who is the first and the last. I shall have to stop and rest. Saturday, and I am rested a little and will try to write a few words more. I can`t see, and I don`t know as you can read. Grandma holds her own pretty well. Louisa`s folks are all well. If I live till tomorrow I shall be an Octogenarian past 80. I don`t know where we shall domicide next summer. Louisa has rented our old place to Horhesk. I shall have to stop. I am not strong enough to write, Hope you will take pity on us to write often. So, I must bid you all good-by.
