Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 14, at the Tennant Funeral Home. A rosary and vigil service will be at 6 p.m. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Iliff with the Rev. Thomas Clement officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Gerk was born May 24, 1906 to Joe and Anna (Jacobs) Sommer in Santa Maria, Argentina, South America. She came to America in 1912, and attended school in the Sedgwick and Logan County areas.
She married Jake Gerk on Feb.1, 1926 in Peetz. She became an American citizen on June 11, 1941. She was a full-time home maker and was a member of the St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Iliff.
She is survived by five sons, Joe, Lawrence, Stanley, Herman and William; seven daughters, Rose Mary Rizzolo, Margaret Schmitt, Dorothy Feheringer,
Regina Sande, Agnes Gerk, Rita Fehringer and Sister Loretta Gerk, O.F.S.; four sisters, Apolonia Stieb, Ann Chlopek, Irene Ertle and Sally Gertge; 38 grandchil dren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 11, 1986, two brothers and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Catholic church or a charity of the donor's choice in her name.
