On Monday afternoon, Nov 29, Mrs H. S. Benedict who lives in the North Grove neighborhood passed away after a long siege of sickness. Obituary will be published next week.

Mrs Lemina Jane Benedict
Lamina Jane Pickerill , daughter of Mr and Mrs Geo E Pickerill, was born in Boscobel, Wis, Aug 22, 1855, and died at Emerson, Ia, Nov 29, 1920, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 7 days. The deceased was one of a family of seven children, all of the others of whom are still living.
When about 15 years of age, she moved with her parents from Wisconsin to Mills Co, Iowa, where they settled on a farm. This was in the year 1871, and the deceased spent the rest of her life in this county with the exception of a few years in Nebraska. The family have lived on the same farm in Indian Creek township for the past 17 year. In March, 1880, she was united in marriage to H S Benedick at Red Oak, IA. To this union, three children were born, two of whom are still living, one son having died in infancy.
Mrs Benedick was converted at 11 years of age and united with the Christian church. In 1917 she, together with her husband, united with the Baptist church of Emerson.
She had been in poor health for several years and for the past three years had been an invalid. During all of her years of suffering she had been very patient and altho she dearly loved life, she looked for the meeting with her Savior with longing in her heart.
The deceased leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband, the following relatives: one daughters, Daisy , of Emerson, one son, Harry, of Omaha, Nebr; one grandson Paul Richardson , of Emerson, three brothers Benjamin F Pickerill of Spearfish, S D, Wm Pickerill of Hastings, Ia, Geo W Pickerill of Hastings, Ia; three sisters, Mrs Anna Morgan of Loup City, Nebr; Mrs Martha E Smith of Malvern, Ia, Mrs Adeline Burkhalter, of Lewis, IA.
The funeral services were held from the home in Indian Creek township on Tuesday afternoon, Rev W J Robinson, pastor of the Baptist church of Emerson, officiating. The burial was in the North Grove Cemetery.
