Billie was a 9th and 10th generation Mayflower descendant. He had two ancestors on the first Mayflower voyage (possibly one more) The line has been verified by the Mayflower Society.

He joined the Navy on July 12, 1943, having served aboard the USS Cascade Destroyer traveling the South Pacific during most of this time. He was honorably discharged March 11, 1946.

Billie joined the Pine Orchard Baptist Church at age 13. In 1947 he moved his letter to Rankin Chapel Baptist Church, he was Ordained as Deacon there September 29, 1963. At various times he has taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. .

WATSON, MR. BILLIE, age 81 of Oakdale, passed away October 20, 2006 at the Life Care Center of Morgan. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a Deacon at Rankin Chapel Church was a dedicated member until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lela Clark Watson; parents; William Houston and Blanche Coffman Watson; brother, Alvin Watson and sister, Vannie Underwood.

He is survived by his son, David (Gail) Watson of Oakdale; daughters; Brenda (Tommy) Clark of Spring City and Arlene (Gary) Smith of Oakdale.
Grandchildren; Michele Clark of Harriman, Tony (Annette) Clark of Soddy Daisy, Felicia and (Bruce) Bagwell of Rockwood, Jeremy Smith of the U.S. Air Force and Serena (Larry) Peters of Oakdale. Five great grandchildren; Nikkie & Cody Clark, Soddy Daisy, Kimberly & Brittany Willis, Isabella Peters of Oakdale.

Sisters; Mona (Walter) Powell, Irene (Alvin) Helton, Dot (Jim) Summers, Gladys (Jim) Dalton and June (Bobby) Horton; several nieces, nephews and extended family, special friend Rita Summers.

Pallbearers were; Grandsons, Tony Clark, Jeremy Smith; Great-grandson, Cody Clark; Husbands of granddaughters, Larry Peters & Bruce Bagwell and Nephew, Lloyd Kivett.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 22 at 3:30 p.m. at Rankin Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Kerry Ruppe officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
